The culture reflects this unparalleled cultural richness and diversity, and remains mostly shaped by its deep roots in Middle East, Anatolia and Balkans, the cradle of many civilizations for at least twelve thousand years.
Being encircled by seas on three sides: the Aegean Sea is to the west, the Black Sea to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the country has a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and a limited amount of rainfall. It is said that all four seasons exist in Turkey.
